Our Story
Born in Tamil Nadu, Inspired by Life Itself
Prana Cookware started with a simple belief: the tools you cook with should carry the same intention as the food you make. We set out to create kitchenware that is honest in its materials, beautiful in its form, and made by hands that care.
The Prana Origin
The word "Prana" (प्राण) in Sanskrit means life force — the vital energy that flows through all living things. We chose this name because we believe every meal is an act of nourishing that energy. Cooking isn't just preparation; it's ceremony.
Our founders grew up watching their grandmothers cook with tools that lasted decades — heavy brass ladles, stone grinders, hand-woven baskets. There was no planned obsolescence. Things were made to last, and they did.
Prana Cookware is our answer to a market flooded with cheap, disposable kitchenware. We work with master craftspeople across Tamil Nadu to revive that philosophy — durable materials, considered design, and a genuine respect for the people who make them.
"We craft cookware that carries prana — the vital energy that turns ingredients into nourishment."
What We Stand For
Artisan-Made
Every product is handcrafted by skilled artisans in Tamil Nadu. We pay fair wages, audit working conditions annually, and share 5% of profits directly with our maker communities.
Earth-Honest
We use only natural, certified materials — bamboo, clay, stainless steel, and food-safe silicone. Zero plastic in our products or packaging. Ever.
Designed to Last
We design for a minimum 5-year lifespan and offer free repair for manufacturing defects. The most sustainable product is the one you never need to replace.
Community First
We're building a community of mindful home cooks who believe in buying less, but better. Every Prana purchase is a vote for a different kind of economy.
How We Work
We Listen to Cooks
Every product starts with real kitchen problems. We spend time with home cooks, professional chefs, and food writers across South India to understand what's missing — and what's being wasted.
We Make with Masters
We partner with established craft workshops in Chennai, Madurai, and Thanjavur — people who have been working with bamboo, clay, and metal for generations. They teach us as much as we brief them.
We Ship with Care
Every order is packed by hand in our Coimbatore studio using recycled kraft paper and compostable mailers. We're carbon-neutral on every shipment, at no extra cost to you.
Cook with Purpose
Every Prana Cookware piece is an invitation to slow down, be present in your kitchen, and make something that matters.
